Position Summary:

The Safety Technician will provide safety direction, company/regulatory compliance, procedural training, safe practices enforcement, and required risk management leadership specific to the NDT Industry.

Responsibilities:

Upholds, safeguard, and promote Acuren’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, integrity, safety, quality, and corporate responsibility.
Actively communicate with all levels of the workforce to develop a culture that embraces safety, recognizes hazards, and takes action to minimize risk.
Ensure employees conduct hazard assessments on every job and that all staff understands they are not to take risks and must refuse unsafe work.
Provide resources to ensure we use quality and appropriate safety equipment, carry out safety training where required, and to conduct safety audits on a regular basis.
Provide direct management and leadership in the investigation of all safety and vehicle incidents.
Focuses to ensure clients are provided with quality services in a timely manner.
Worker training, use of procedures, project supervision and peer review are all areas that require management focus in Acuren’s business.
Ensure that staff assigned to each project exhibit adequate training and experience and that we have complete and accurate certification documents on file to support the required certification
Responsible for the effective utilization of the workforce and the maintenance and calibration of equipment.
Adherence to corporate safety objectives and participate in corporate safety team meetings.
Conducts ongoing safety assessments of the work force, and oversee safety audits/inspections e.g. facilities, operations, equipment and processes).
Administers safety policies and occupational health and safety laws and maintain required records and documentation.
Leads incident investigations, participate in management review calls, write the Incident Report Summary and ensure the incident and “lessons learned” are communicated throughout the region.  Looks at “root” cause analysis to determine preventive measures or correction action initiatives.
Coordinates with the Worker’s Compensation liaison incident investigations, work related claims and subsequent return to work.
Maintains regional statistics and prepares monthly reports for corporate.
Works as the liaison with client safety personnel, participate in pre-job meetings, post job reviews and obtain feedback on safety performance for use in improving programs.
Provides safety training for all employees and management throughout the assigned area of operation.
Executes the Region’s driver safety initiatives and maintain records pertaining to authorized vehicle drivers, including recent driver abstracts, driver training, driver suspensions and demerit points system.
Ensures SDS documentation and other Right to Know information is kept updated.
Perform other duties as assigned by their manager.
Promotes a strong culture of safety and environmental stewardship in compliance with applicable Company policies and procedures encompassing federal, state, local rules and regulations.
Plans, organizes and coordinates employee safety, injury and illness prevention programs.
Ensures compliance with all Federal, State and local government laws (OSHA, EPA, USDOT, NIOSH, Traffic Safety, Workers’ Compensation, etc.).
Manages and supports critical processes required in the investigation of motor vehicle accidents and injuries. Assists in gathering and preparation of material evidence for use in hearings, lawsuits and insurance investigations.
In partnership with Corporate Safety Leader, establishes annual plans/objectives, defining clear goals, measures and schedules required to meet regulatory and organizational expectations.
Manages, delivers and tracks training safety sessions for preparedness as it relates to hazardous communication, driver safety, fall protection, machine guarding, hearing and overall personal protective safety.
Oversees drug testing program including regulated collection and proper chain of custody processing of samples.
Implements effective safety communication plans using various multi-media methods.
Holds regional accountability in partnership with manager for shaping and developing a high performance safety culture that shows a positive record of continuous improvement.
Reviews trends and keeps current in regard to technical, statutory, and regulatory legislation, policies, procedures and related business issues.
Develops annual safety budget, and analyzes data versus year-to date and prior year budget.
Maintains required safety training, DOT and other related files and records.
Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.
Provide leadership to implement the Acuren safety initiatives.
Procure safety supplies in concert with profit center managers.
Conduct JHA and Field Crew Audits.
Conduct monthly shop/office inspections
Track all safety-related corrective actions and communicate with management on status/ closure.
Perform pre-job risk assessments and site orientations during outages.
Attend and participate in client-led contractor safety forums.
Help crews occasionally with job tasks. ( Hole Watch for example).
Any direction from the Site Manager

Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years experience in field service employment specific to regional client industries; e.g., petrochemical, mining, etc.
Previous experience as an occupational safety leader or field safety auditor.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of OSHA as it relates to a NDT environment.
Strong technical background in NDT methods and procedures.
Excellent technical and non-technical verbal and written communication skills.
Self-starter, enthusiastic, energized team player.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
