Good question last year we were researching the same topic and could find little published material. Talking to numerous industry people it seemed 5% was considered the upper limit that people felt was acceptable but that was general. It depends upon application for example we found instances of high quality fatigue sensitive welds with 20% or higher and repairs not permitted.
The ultrasonic test requirement is most probably a raw material requirement, in other words, the round bar which you start the manufacturing process with should be ultrasonic tested.
The normal method of achieving this is to buy in raw material which has been ultrasonically tested. It is a more efficient process to UT test during manufacture. This depends on several things: base and filler materials; welding process used; PWHT
Radiography is one of the most important, versatile and widely accepted examination methods. X-ray is used to determine the internal soundness of welds. The term ‘X-ray quality,” widely used to indicate high quality in welds, arises from this inspection method.

If you are speaking about ASME BPV code sect. VIII div. 1 the Subsection B part UW, paragraphs UW-33, UW-35, UW-36 can help you.
If you are speaking about ASME BPV code sect. III div. 1 the Subsection NB Article NB-4000 paragraphs from NB-4400 can help you.
If you are speaking about ASME BPV code sect. I the part PW paragraphs PW-33, PW-34, PW-35 and PW-36 can help youCopper castings can have a extremely large grain size that make it difficult for sound penetration. Your best approach is to first reduce grain size of castings,

It is specialty equipment called high precision radiometric calibrators that is used to calibrate these devices. This is for the verification of temperature range, and errors associated throughout the range of measurement.
There is also a geometric component to calibration, which shows errors or variations across the measurement field.
This can cost you upwards of 6-700 dollars to have done.
If you want to know how to do it, I suggest you get training from the manufacturer of your device.
RVI is an acronym for Remote Visual Inspection. Most commonly performed with variations of borescopes and fiberscopes, Remote Visual Inspections allow an NDT technician to look at materials and objects (most commonly parts or components of machinery) from a distance.
Be carefully with such comparison tables!
The given film system classes depend no only on the film type but also on the exact development conditions (chemisty, temperature and times). So if you are seeking for a replacement of D4 in AGFA standard process, you seach fo another film type in film system class D3 according to ISO 11699-1. Any other film in film system class C3 will be equivalent to AGFA D4. Ask you dealer for film type AND development conditions to reach film system class C3.caleb-charles

Following I indicate to you two tests that can be used:
a) Holiday, pinhole, or spark testing.
b) Adhesion testing.

BINDT strongly recommends that you ignore any communication from them.
DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING. Although the first page talks about a ‘free listing’ the small print commits you to pay approx 4000 Euros.

or power piping, please refer to 136.4.6 of ASME B 31.1 (2012)
Note – Code case 181 is not applicable for power piping. If the specification requires MPI as the primary inspection method that is what you should apply unless an approval plan is obtained from the customer. That being said is standard practice to remove all residual inspection materials after testing, therefore no contamination shall be present upon completion.
I would be more concerned that 13%Cr material may oxidize after being exposed to water if FPI process is applied. That type of contamination can damage surface finis and be difficult to remove from threads.

G1 , G2, G3 are the geometries ( G ) ; d1, d2 , d3 , d4 are defects LOF type ( d ). Part of these defects coexist with a geometry : d1 with G1, G2 with d3 , G3 with D4 . The observation point is the discriminating factor between defect and geometry , so the scanning position R-d4 (scan right pointing d4) shows the defect d4 , L-G3 (scan Left pointing G3) shows the G3 geometry. The defect d4 is the continuation of geometry G3 and vice versa, then scan position Rd-4 and L-G3 pointing the same welding area. And so on for the other scans represented.
Because of misalignment root and esternal cap paths are lengthened or shortened compared to a normal joint. For the same reasons, the projection of the cap root path – normally a few millimeters beyond the CL – will be in C.L. position. The signature of this situation is the absence of any signal in the root scanning position R-d2: if there is a signal generated this signal is unequivocally defect d2.
Scanning with straight beam probe – often underestimated – provides additional information on the status of the root. In case of a joint regularly aligned and penetrated (P-Scan), we have the rapid sequence with 3 signals 10-12-10 path. If the joint is not penetrated ( IP-Scan ) the paths become 10 – 8-10 (reduction of thickness at the center, instead of increase), with the same dynamic. In the case of misalignment ( M-scan) path reduce at first sight similar to IP-scan, but the dynamic is different: after a rapid change from the path from 10 to 8,will follow a phase of slow variation of the thickness, without the dynamic net of a third signal as observed in IP-scan.
The evaluation of misalignment normally is done not with UT examination bat with visual/dimensional inspection according to the construction requirements.

I aslo don’t know about that . Can anyone help?
Thank you very much for your question and I will try to explain the open question:
First of all it is important to know in which environment the company is operating.
(1) As a maintenance organization under EASA Part-145:
Here the requirierend is clear stated in the EASA Regulation – The training and examination of NDT personnel shall be under the control of an National NDT Board (NANDTB) for the case a National NDT Board is established. Normally the NANDTB is approving an outside agency (Training school) or an inside agency (company internal). If no NANDTB is present the local aviation authority shall be responsible for controlling the NDT education and examination in this country.
(2) Design Organisation EASA Part-21 – here the training shall be established based on the requirements of the EN4179 but it is recommended to follow the procedure of the NANDTB of the applicable country. That means, the training shall be conducted at an NANDTB approved training school but in principle it would also be possible to do the training inhouse (own company training) if it is controlled by the National Authority.
(3) Organizations without Aviation approval – The responsible Level 3 of the company can decide if the training is done inhouse, our at an training school (outside agency). But be careful with the customer requirements. Sometimes they require training under the control of some Auditing organizations.
So you see, the answer is not straight forward and the requirements are based on the focus of your comapny.Hope this answer is helpful for you?
calculate under RMS
In order to get the values you set in Setup , you need to chech the Channel option in the System Calibration window (it should show only HOLE,OD GR60 ). After recording a signal for each one you hit Callibrate and the Differential and absolute refferences will be adjusted at the value in the Setup.
Have you not had a training course or read the manual?
Try to choose a line, upto me NDT is sea. We learn only small portion in India. From aircrapt to railway lines they do NDT. Now a days even DIPLOMA, ITI, MBA,BSC,MA,BA,10 & 12th class students do NDT Level II , later they do AWS-CWI. Try to go in the Engg core line. Think ahead – now a days too many pupil are there in this field. You have to think ahead. This ASNT Level II and CWI will not the end. Keep going in other Dept. Really dont waste ur degree. If u really need to start go for MS in Ndt or Materrial Science or M.Tech Welding Tech. Even my frnd is working in NDT field. BUt he is working in ISRO. Plz take note. Its doesnt mean if u study NDT Lev II with CWI. You can reach the top. Go for the better ride.
Sound velocity is approx 4760 m/s longitudinal wave. Velocity is not the concern, later you can change manually. The main concern is your probe frequency and its focal length. Make sure the focal length of your probe is according to your tube OD. And in my point of view you should go for 20MHz and keep 15MHz as sphere. Check the result of both the probe before inspection.
