We have a bit of a discussion at the moment on the interpretation
of the SNT-TC-1a. According to the document, people wishing to
become a UT level II operator, should sit a specific examination with
a minimum of 20 questions “addressing the equipment, operating procedures
and NDT techniques that the individual may encounter during specific
assignments..”. Our staff work to several codes and standards. Does
this mean they have to sit an exam with 20 questions on each standard
or procedure or is it sufficient to cover different codes and standards
in the questions. By example 5 questions on German standards, 5 on Dutch,
5 on ASME etc? Is there a minimum of questions on the standards at all,
because the 20 questions should also cover the equipment etc?

The specific examination shall consist of a minimum of 20 questions to meet the requirements of SNT-TC-1A. If you or your organization feel that 20 questions is not enough to properly cover the broad range of specifications, equipment, techniques and so on, you may put as many questions as you like on the exam.
