Divergent, a Tier 1 automotive supplier that also serves US aerospace and defence companies, is hiring a Director of Non-Destructive Evaluation in Torrance, California. The director will set up and run both NDE engineering and production inspection, owning strategy, method qualification and the integration of inspection data into Divergent's automated DAPS manufacturing platform. At least 10 years of relevant engineering experience, a technical bachelor's degree and an active Level III in at least one of PT, RT, CT or UT/PAUT are required.

What the job involves
- Set up and head both the NDE engineering group and production inspection
- Set the company-wide NDE strategy and technology roadmap for different materials, processes and products
- Drive method development, validation and qualification for PT, RT, CT, UT/PAUT and newer technologies
- Put standard processes in place for inspection flow, calibration, equipment control, training, certification and technical governance
- Create new NDE approaches suited to the fixtureless DAPS production system instead of copying legacy practice
- Link NDE equipment and inspection data with MES, traceability and automated disposition inside the DAPS digital thread
- Act as the top NDE technical authority and back root-cause investigations, product development, process qualification and acceptance criteria
What you need
- Able to lawfully access export-controlled information and technology
- More than 10 years across NDE, materials, manufacturing or related engineering, preferably aerospace, defence or space
- Technical bachelor's degree (engineering, physics, materials science or similar)
- Active Level III in at least one of PT, RT, CT or UT/PAUT
- Proven record leading NDE engineering and production inspection, and building teams and capabilities from scratch
- Experience qualifying NDE procedures for production and specifying, buying, installing and qualifying capital equipment
- Preferred: inspection of additively manufactured hardware, adhesive joints or aerospace weldments, and Level III in several methods
Pay and conditions
- Pay: USD 222,130-305,430 per year, as published by Divergent Technologies.

- Pay range $222,130 to $305,430 a year, plus equity and discretionary bonus opportunities
