Magnaflux has made non-destructive testing products for more than 80 years and is one of the best-known names in liquid penetrant and magnetic particle inspection. Its consumables, equipment and UV lamps are used to check car parts, jet engines and airframes, pipelines, rail and structural steel, and they are qualified to the specifications NDT teams work to, including ASTM, AMS 2644, Boeing, Rolls-Royce and Safran. Magnaflux products have even played a part in crewed spaceflight.
For the EMEA region (UK and Ireland, Europe, the Middle East and Africa) Magnaflux works from its UK headquarters in Swindon and from Magnaflux GmbH in Essingen, Germany, the former Tiede business acquired in 2006 and now the company's centre for manufacturing equipment and accessories. Bycotest of Sweden joined in 2008 and is known across Scandinavia for quality, safer-chemistry products. A network of more than 100 distributors gives customers local stock, service and support.

ZYGLO fluorescent penetrants
Fluorescent penetrant chemistry for aerospace, energy and precision parts: water-washable ZL-15B, ZL-19, ZL-60C, ZL-60D, ZL-67B and ZL-56 from Level 1/2 to Level 4, post-emulsifiable ZL-2C, ZL-27A and ZL-37, ZP-4D dry powder, ZP-14A water-soluble and ZP-9F solvent developers, and ZE-4B lipophilic and ZR-10C hydrophilic emulsifiers. Listed on the AMS 2644 QPL and certified for ASTM E1417 and ISO 3452 work.
Magnetic particle consumables
Fluorescent and visible particles for wet and dry method MPI: 14A, MG 410 and MG 601 fluorescent powders, 14HF, WB-12 and MF-655 WB inks and concentrates, 7HF and WB-27 visible suspensions, 1 Grey and 8A Red dry powders, Carrier II suspension vehicle, WCP-2 white contrast paint and WA-1 / WA-2 water additives. Magnetic wet benches
Wet benches for every production volume: the multi-directional Universal WE that inspects both directions in one shot and stores 500 techniques, Universal SW, MAG 40 and MAG 50, the Ferroflux series including the Ferroflux 400 for small parts, and the D-2060 CE with 6,000 A of three-phase full-wave DC and optional AC. Outputs in AC, half-wave DC and full-wave DC, and benches can be sized to the parts being tested.
Y-2 AC yoke
A lightweight AC electromagnetic yoke with an ergonomic grip and trigger that reduces arm and wrist strain on long field jobs. The IP54 o-ring sealed housing keeps out dust and water, the cord and trigger can be swapped in the field so a damaged cable never ends a job, steel shields protect the legs, and an optional LED light illuminates the area while magnetising. Supplied with a carry case, for ASTM E709, ASTM E1444 and ASME BPVC inspections.
EV6000 LED UV lamp
A hand-held UV-A lamp for fluorescent penetrant and magnetic particle inspection with a 23 cm uniform beam free of hot spots and up to 5,000 µW/cm² at 38 cm. It weighs 1.3 kg, has a sealed IP65 fan-less housing and an integrated filter, and ships with a certificate of conformance to ASTM E3022, ASTM E2297, ISO 3059 and RRES 90061.
ZA penetrant inspection lines
Stainless-steel penetrant lines for water-washable (Method A) and post-emulsifiable (Method B/D) inspection, from the compact ZA-28 and ZA-37 for low volumes to the modular ZA-800 and the stand-alone ZA-915. Ergonomic, with optional automation, built to ASTM, Rolls-Royce, UKCA and CE requirements, and Magnaflux can size a line to the parts and the floor space available.
SPOTCHECK penetrants & SK-3 kit
Red dye penetrant testing in normal light, with no UV lamp or darkness needed. SKL-SP2 is solvent-removable and on the AMS 2644 QPL (Type 2, Methods B, C and D); SKL-WP2 washes off with water on large or rough surfaces. SKC-S cleaner/remover and bright white SKD-S2 developer complete the process, and the SK-3 kit packs the aerosols with a cloth in a carry case for welds, castings and pressure vessels on site. SKC-S, SKD-S2 and SKL-WP2 aerosols hold EDF PMUC approval.
Water-based fluorescent penetrants
ZL-405 (Level 1/2), ZL-425 (Level 1) and ZL-440 (Level 2) are water-washable fluorescent penetrants with no petroleum distillates, made for castings, forgings and extrusions with rough surfaces, especially in automotive plants. They are biodegradable and self-developing, and depending on local rules the rinse water may go straight to sewer. All meet EN ISO 3452-2, ZL-425 and ZL-440 also AMS 2644, and they suit plastics that solvent-based penetrants would attack.
Penetrant process accessories
The small tools that keep a penetrant line in control: pairs of 20 µm Ni-Cr test panels to compare in-use penetrant with fresh product, a dual-channel process timer with loud, quiet or silent alarms and an ISO 17025 calibration certificate, a hand-held refractometer for hydrophilic remover concentration that meets Pratt & Whitney and GE limits, and air/water and water spray guns for rinsing parts.
S200SA & S500 rinsewater treatment
Activated-carbon filtration units that take penetrant out of rinse water so it can be drained, subject to local approval, or reused. The mobile S200SA circulates water from the holding tank through a replaceable carbon drum until it runs clean; the static S500 pushes it through a carbon bed in a pressure vessel, and the S500C adds a coalescing filter for post-emulsifiable penetrant in pre-rinse water. Economical to run and simple to operate.
PeneCert test services
Laboratory testing of in-use penetrant, emulsifier and developer that keeps penetrant lines compliant with ASTM E1417 and AMS 2644 without in-house instruments. Checks cover contamination, water content, concentration, fluorescent brightness, sensitivity and removability, and regular results show when a material starts to lose performance. Send a 500 ml sample and the results come back by email.
Ferrotest & Isotest power packs
Mobile high-current units for parts too large or heavy for a bench. Ferrotest packs deliver AC from 1,000 to 7,100 A and half-wave DC from 950 to 5,000 A, with constant-current, impulse and automatic demagnetisation modes. Isotest 60 E and 100 E give AC or full-wave DC up to 6,000 and 10,000 A for foundries, forges and steelworks, with constant-current control and multi-stage demagnetisation. A trolley-mounted chain inspection unit is built around the Ferrotest.
ETT & ETW demagnetisation units
Tunnel demagnetisers that remove residual magnetism after magnetic particle inspection, before final finishing or service. The ETT 150, 350 and 550 tunnels sit on a bench and are double insulated (protection class II); the larger ETW 350 and 550 come with a trolley, so heavy parts are pushed through the tunnel from one side to the other. Compact, rugged and quick for a wide range of part sizes.
Y-6 & Y-8 yokes
Two portable yokes with articulated, double-jointed legs that follow the shape of the part. The Y-6 is a light, sealed AC yoke for one-handed weld and in-service inspection, with demagnetising capability. The Y-8 is a DC yoke whose compact battery pack runs a full 8-hour shift, so remote sites need no mains supply. Both are chemical and abrasion resistant, exceed ASTM lift requirements and suit ASTM E709, ASTM E1444, ASME BPVC and ISO 9934-3 work.
MPI test pieces, indicators & meters
Tools that prove a magnetic particle process works: flux indicators, QQIs, the AS 5282 test ring, EN ISO 9934-2 Type 1 reference blocks and test bars with known defects; calibrated and ASME field indicators for residual magnetism and field direction; centrifuge tubes for bath concentration; the QB2-Plus quick break tester, a digital amperage meter up to 10,000 A and the FSM-2 field strength meter; plus particle applicators and test liquid tanks.
ST700 overhead UV lamp
A fixed overhead LED UV-A lamp with a wide beam for high-volume fluorescent PT and MT work stations, leaving the inspector's hands free. The adjustable ST700 hood mount positions the lamp over the booth or bench, and brackets are also available to mount EV6000 and EV6500 hand-held lamps on a magnetic bench or a table for hands-free inspection.
EV6500 dual-light UV lamp
A hand-held LED UV-A lamp for fluorescent PT and MT with built-in white LEDs, so inspectors can check an indication in visible light without reaching for a torch. It delivers 7,000 µW/cm² of UV-A across a wide 25 cm beam and a flood of more than 150 foot-candles of white light for visual spot checks. Designed for in-line and hand-held use, and fits the same mounting brackets as the EV6000.
UV light meters & UV spectacles
For the light checks fluorescent inspection depends on: the UVM3059 digital UV-A intensity meter built to EN ISO 3059, with an integrated sensor and IP54 housing, and a high-resolution luxmeter for visible and ambient light. UV protective spectacles block long-wave UV-A to reduce eye fatigue during long shifts under UV lamps, with anti-fog, impact-resistant polycarbonate lenses and a 180° distortion-free field of view.
Ultrasonic couplants
Couplants that remove the air gap between transducer and part for flaw detection and sizing, thickness gauging, flow metering and acoustic emission testing. Ultragel II is the general-purpose, high-performance couplant; Sono 600 works across a wide temperature range from -18 to 371 °C. Non-corrosive, with high-viscosity gels for vertical and overhead surfaces and biodegradable options.
AQ-710 aqueous cleaner
A low-foaming, glycol-free alkaline cleaner made for NDT pre- and post-cleaning. It lifts oils, coolants, buffing compounds and penetrant, developer and magnetic particle residues; runs in immersion, ultrasonic and spray systems; is safe on aluminium, magnesium and titanium alloys; and meets aerospace specifications. Soil-rejecting chemistry lets the bath be filtered and skimmed for a longer life.
