Inspector

LyondellBasell is hiring a fixed equipment inspector for its high-density polyethylene site near Victoria, Texas. The inspector runs the unit's stationary equipment inspection program, performs most field inspections personally and supports welding quality through radiographic film review and penetrant testing. API 510 or API 570 certification, two years of inspection experience in refining, petrochemical or chemical plants, and the ability to certify in UT and PT at SNT-TC-1A Level 2 are required.

What the job involves

• Make sure fixed equipment mechanical integrity work meets corporate, site and regulatory requirements
• Build and coordinate inspection plans, evaluate results, issue run/repair/replace recommendations and keep RBI current
• Review radiographs to quality-check RT on equipment repairs and new fabrication
• Carry out and certify dye penetrant testing that supports on-site welding
• Review welding procedures and welder qualifications and write inspection test plans for site welding
• Lead reliability efforts including CUI, above-ground storage tank inspections and relief valve work
• Run corrosion monitoring and remaining-life studies to set inspection intervals

What you need

• High school diploma or GED
• 2+ years of inspection experience in refining, petrochemical or chemical process plants
• API 510 or API 570 certification and experience as a certified inspector (the role expects API 510 and 570 plus API 580, 577 or CWI to be maintained)
• Able to become certified to SNT-TC-1A Level 2 in UT and PT
• Knowledge of API, ASME, NBIC and state or local inspection and repair rules, and of damage mechanisms such as corrosion and stress corrosion cracking
• Available for nights and weekends during outages and unplanned events
• Preferred: 5+ years of experience and API 580, API 653 and API 577 or CWI credentials
