Navantia UK's Belfast operations team is adding a full-time Level 2 welding inspector to support growing fabrication work. The inspector visually checks welds before, during and after welding, confirms compliance with WPS, ITPs, drawings and codes, keeps traceability records and helps coordinate NDT when needed. CSWIP 3.1 or PCN Level 2 welding inspector certification and a fabrication or welding background are required.

What the job involves
- Visually inspect welded joints at every stage of welding
- Check preparations, fit-up, alignment, dimensions and weld profiles
- Identify defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut and lack of fusion
- Confirm compliance with WPS, ITPs, drawings, client specifications and codes
- Record non-conformances, maintain traceability logs and help compile MRBs
- Assist with coordinating NDT and verifying weld repairs
What you need
- CSWIP 3.1 or PCN Level 2 welding inspector
- BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in a related engineering discipline
- Knowledge of FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, GTAW and SAW, and of ISO 3834, EN 1090, ISO 5817, Lloyd's Register and IACS requirements
- Understanding of shipbuilding classification rules
- Ability to read drawings and use inspection tools; Word and Excel skills
- Must complete BPSS security clearance
