Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) II

Terracon is hiring a certified welding inspector for construction projects out of Macon, Georgia, with Lawrenceville also listed. The inspector checks materials, components and welds against design documents and industry standards and performs NDE and field testing. AWS CWI (D1.1) certification and two to four years as an NDT inspector or in similar work are required.

What the job involves

• Inspect construction work daily against building codes, drawings and project specifications
• Examine materials, components and welds and perform NDE and field tests
• Work from construction drawings and specifications
• Draft inspection reports for senior inspectors or project managers to review
• Maintain and calibrate test equipment
• Plan tasks before starting and follow site safety rules

What you need

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in civil or construction engineering technology preferred
• 2-4 years of experience as an NDT inspector or similar
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI-D1.1)
• ICC structural steel and bolting certification, or able to obtain it within 4-8 weeks
• Driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• Preferred: ASNT Level II in VT, MT, PT, RT or UT
