Textron Systems' Marine & Land Systems business is hiring a principal quality NDT technician in New Orleans, Louisiana to lead radiographic weld inspection. The technician is part of a radiographer team, sets up and calibrates RT equipment, interprets radiographs to MIL-STD-2035, AWS and ASME Section IV requirements, and may act as site Radiation Safety Officer. Five or more years of NDT or Level II radiographer experience, including two as a lead radiographer, are required.

What the job involves
- Act as the site Radiation Safety Officer when required and take part in radiation safety programs
- Set up and calibrate radiographic equipment and keep the radiation area controlled
- Develop weld examination techniques that follow safety rules, then test welds and interpret the radiographs
- Apply the specified acceptance criteria, evaluate and report results, and submit daily radiation reports
- Carry out specialised inspections and train or lead newer and junior staff
What you need
- Associate or vocational degree preferred
- 5+ years of related NDT or Level II radiographer experience, with 2+ years as a lead radiographer
- Meet Louisiana's training rules for a Radiation Safety Officer and keep the site RSO paperwork current
- Earn internal and ASNT Level II certifications in the identified methods, plus Louisiana dual X-ray and radioactive material certification, within 6 months of hire
- Working familiarity with PT and VT is required; deeper expertise in further methods helps
- Able to meet medium physical demands, lifting up to 60 lb, and to work extended hours at short notice
- Computer skills including MS Office, and strong communication skills
