Airbus Helicopters is looking for an NDT quality inspection specialist for its quality assurance team at the Grand Prairie, Texas regional headquarters. The specialist uses NDT to check structural components and sub-assemblies for cracks and certify them, and also maintains the NDT room and equipment and prepares parts. Two or more years of NDT in at least one method, or four years as a certificated aviation maintenance technician, plus an A&P licence or a repairman certificate within three months, are required.

What the job involves

Apply NDT methods to find cracks and certify part condition, following approved written instructions and technical sheets (about 40% of the job)
Prepare parts before and after testing, and interpret results to accept or reject them
Define inspection areas and check phases when instruction files, technical sheets and work cards are prepared
Maintain NDT equipment and reference specimens and run concentration and contamination checks (about 30%)
Count incoming parts, degrease them with detergent and ultrasonic cleaning, and rinse them (about 20%)
Complete maintenance records, sign off pass/fail results and log labor in SAP (about 10%)

What you need

High school diploma or equivalent experience
2+ years of NDT in at least one method, or 4 years as a certificated aviation maintenance technician on aircraft components and systems
A&P licence alongside the required certifications, or a repairman certificate obtained within 3 months
Within 90 days, show the Level III you can perform the required examinations with proper calibration blocks and written procedures
Knowledge of what different NDT methods can and cannot detect in aircraft structures and components
Near-vision (Jaeger 1 or 20/25) and colour vision checks; authorized to work in the US; Microsoft Office or G Suite skills

Pay and conditions

About 95% onsite in Grand Prairie, with roughly 5% domestic and international travel
