Blue Origin is hiring an eddy current Level II technician for second shift on Florida's Space Coast, joining its NDT team on spaceflight hardware. The technician builds and maintains inspection techniques, performs eddy current inspections, applies drawing or work-order acceptance criteria and explains results to engineers and managers. At least 2 years as an ET Level 2 and eligibility to certify to NAS 410 Level II with 800 documented hours are required.

What the job involves

  • Create and keep up inspection techniques that meet safety and specification requirements
  • Carry out inspections with eddy current equipment
  • Interpret results against acceptance criteria shown on drawings or shop work orders
  • Document and organise inspection results and brief engineers or managers on findings
  • The overview also refers to X-ray work on flight-critical metal and composite parts and test samples

What you need

  • 2+ years of experience as an eddy current Level 2
  • Meet NAS 410 training minimums for ET and hold at least 800 documented hours to certify at Level II
  • Pass the eddy current general and specific exams by week 3 (study material provided if needed)
  • Meet near-vision (Snellen 20/25 at 16 in or Jaeger No. 1) and Ishihara colour tests (12 of 14 plates)
  • Familiar with ASTM E426 and SAE ARP4402, able to set parameters and calibrations, and able to read blueprints
  • Must be a US citizen or national, permanent resident, refugee or asylee; standard background check applies
  • Desired: eddy current array training, ASTM E2884 and NASA PRC-6509 knowledge, and FPI or radiography experience

Pay and conditions

  • B Shift: Monday to Thursday, 4:00 pm to 2:30 am
  • Overtime, weekends and off shifts when deadlines require
