Blue Origin is hiring a senior NDT engineer at its Rocket Park site on Florida's Space Coast to lead inspection for New Glenn and its lunar programs. The engineer sets technical direction across PT, MT, ET, UT and RT on flight hardware (metallic, composite and bonded) plus ground support equipment, and mentors the inspection team. Candidates should hold ASNT Level III certificates in at least two methods and usually bring more than 12 years in NDT engineering.

What the job involves

  • Own NDT for flight hardware and ground support equipment through development and production
  • Direct technique development, procedure writing and reference standard design across several methods
  • Lead anomaly investigations and root cause work on mission-critical non-conformances
  • Specify, procure and stand up inspection systems to support higher production rates
  • Qualify new NDT methods for unusual inspections and work with designers on inspectability
  • Coach inspectors at Level I and II, plus junior engineers, and oversee their certification under a NAS 410-equivalent written practice

What you need

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, physics or a related field
  • Usually more than 12 years working as an NDT engineer (or equivalent)
  • ASNT Level III certificates in at least two of UT, RT, PT, MT and ET, plus extensive hands-on work on aerospace structures
  • Knowledge of NAS 410 (or equivalent) certification practice and AS9100
  • Must be a US citizen or national, permanent resident, refugee or asylee
  • Preferred: thermography, shearography or terahertz expertise, POD studies, robotic scanning and coding skills

Pay and conditions

  • B-Shift, 4:30 pm to 1:00 am
  • Up to 25% travel for test campaigns and visits to NDT suppliers
