GE Vernova's steam power business is hiring an intermediate NDT technician in Richmond, Virginia to test components from steam and gas turbines as well as generator parts. The work happens in the factory and in the field and spans magnetic particle, penetrant, ultrasonic and phased array inspection plus hardness testing. Level 2 certification with five years of experience is required.

What the job involves
- Perform magnetic particle inspection of rotors, casings, vane carriers, blades and fusion lines, including hot MT
- Carry out dye penetrant checks on retaining rings, blades, generator dovetails, faceplates, wedges and other hardware, and operate the penetrant line
- Test bearings, braze coupons, tenons, blade pins and weld build-ups ultrasonically, including phased array work and flaw depth sizing
- Check hardness with Equotip, Wilson and Clark testers
- Raise NCRs and work through every step of the inspection and test plans
- Follow safety procedures and help develop team skills
What you need
- High school diploma or GED
- Level 2 certification in the listed methods (shown as NT, PT and UT) with 5 years of experience
- Able to work first shift (7:00-3:30) or second shift (3:00-11:30)
- Able to work overtime, including occasional weekends
- Desired: roughly 5 years of technical work on steam and gas power generation equipment
- Desired: strong math skills and ability to document procedures and train others
Pay and conditions
- Pay: USD 26-41.50 per hour, as published by GE Vernova.
- Pay $26.00-$41.50 per hour plus a $2 per hour shift differential
