GKN Aerospace's Filton site, which designs and builds wing assemblies, metallic parts and wing systems for civil and military aircraft, needs a qualified Level 2 penetrant (PFD) operator. The technician checks components for surface defects on manual and automated penetrant lines, working in a team of up to 16 operators. EN 4179 Level 2 is essential, together with auditing and quality-system knowledge.

What the job involves

Run penetrant inspection on the manual and automatic PFD lines in the IMF facility
Produce parts right first time and report non-conformances to the process team leader
Clear work phases promptly in SAP and check calibrated equipment is in date
Log value-stream task risks in the site risk assessment tool
Hold first-party inspection approval and follow GKN quality, EHS and export control rules

What you need

EN 4179 Level 2 as a minimum
Knowledge of risk-based methods (ISO 31000) for planning audits
Experience with practical problem solving and root cause corrective action techniques
Internal audit experience to ISO 19011 and knowledge of AS/EN 9100 and ISO 9001
Good written and verbal communication and MS Office skills

Pay and conditions

Day shifts 07:00 to 18:45 on a two-week rota with a 25% shift allowance
