L3Harris Technologies wants a seasoned penetrant inspector at Level 2 for second shift at its Canoga Park, California site, a plant building propulsion hardware for NASA, the military and commercial customers. The inspector interprets penetrant indications on materials, parts and welds, decides acceptance against specifications and helps develop penetrant techniques. A high school diploma or GED and a minimum of 400 NDT/NDE hours are required, and the in-house Level II certification must be passed.

What the job involves

Use drawings, planning documents, engineering orders, procedures and material review reports to set up penetrant inspection requirements
Turn approved general procedures into work instructions and run system performance checks under the governing process standard
Evaluate penetrant indications to find cracks, inclusions, folds, porosity, undercut or lack of fusion
Accept or reject parts, including those with marginal defects, and record results manually or in computer systems
Raise recurring defects with engineering and suppliers and suggest corrective actions

What you need

High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 400 NDT/NDE hours
Pass the in-house Level II certification and the vision test
Preferred: current ASNT or NAS 410 Level 2 penetrant certification, POD certification and fracture-critical experience
Preferred: experience with electron beam, manual and automatic welds and with exotic alloys
Basic knowledge of manufacturing and inspection technology, company business systems and Microsoft Office

Pay and conditions

Pay: USD 33.14-57.32 per hour, as published by L3Harris Technologies.
Second shift on a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off, plus weekend overtime
California pay range $33.14 to $57.32 per hour
