MISTRAS Group needs a Level II NDE technician in Houma, Louisiana for onshore and offshore mechanical integrity work. The technician carries out field or shop testing in ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle or dye penetrant methods and reports the results. Level II certification to SNT-TC-1A with a year of experience, or Level I with enough field hours to reach Level II, is expected.

What the job involves
- Prepare and calibrate test equipment and run examinations in the certified method
- Interpret and evaluate findings and document them, presenting numerical data clearly
- Supervise trainees and Level I staff within the scope of the certified method
- Work to the codes, standards and contract documents that govern each job
- On radiography jobs, keep sources under constant watch, secure the equipment and keep unauthorized people out of the restricted zone
- Transport and use radiographic equipment in line with federal and state rules, the license and company procedures
What you need
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an NDT training program meeting SNT-TC-1A in UT, RT, MT or PT
- Level II certification with one year of experience, or Level I with enough field hours to certify to Level II
- Industrial radiographer card and 40-hour radiation safety course (required for radiographer hires, preferred otherwise)
- Radiographers must satisfy NRC trustworthiness and reliability criteria
- Able to carry 50 lb frequently and climb ladders and stairways to elevated platforms
Pay and conditions
- Outdoor field work in plant and shop areas with high noise levels
- May cover more than one job site in a day
- Periodic out-of-town travel
