Acuren's Pipeline Integrity Services group in Akron, Ohio is hiring a technician to examine pipelines in the field and report on their condition. Around 90% of the job is spent in the field, in field offices or travelling across the US, often working alone in remote areas. Level 2 certification in magnetic particle and ultrasonic thickness testing is required, plus at least one advanced endorsement such as PAUT or TOFD.

What the job involves
- Assess pipe as found in the dig, covering coating condition, soil and terrain, and cathodic protection
- Check exposed pipe for corrosion, cracking, deformation and manufacturing flaws
- Correlate field features with the in-line inspection (ILI) log
- Carry out fitness-for-service evaluations to ASME B31.3 and RSTRENG
- Calibrate and set up NDE equipment and write pipeline integrity reports
- Train and guide PLI assistants and junior technicians on the job
What you need
- High school diploma or equivalent (college courses are an advantage)
- Background in pipeline integrity or pipeline maintenance roles
- Current Level 2 certifications in MT and UT thickness
- At least one of: Creaform 3D laser scanning, automated corrosion scan mapping, UT phased array or TOFD, or in-situ material verification
- NACE CIP Level I or CP Level I preferred
