Operate and maintain the cathodic protection (CP) facilities for pipelines, tanks, PSM processing plants and other facilities, including design, installation, operation, and maintenance.Operate and maintain the cathodic protection (CP) facilities for pipelines, tanks, PSM processing plants and other facilities, including design, installation, operation, and maintenance.
Responsibilities include:
• Testing and evaluating cathodic protection systems in a variety of applications
• Ability to accurately gather pipe-to-soil potentials on a variety of structures
• Test, troubleshoot, and repair cathodic protection rectifiers and other impress current system components
• Prepare survey reports and final reports for review by Engineering department
• Ability to assess issues and troubleshoot problems in the field and respond accordingly
• Work with Engineering department on data gathering processes for specific projects
• Ability to manage third party CP survey crews and provide technical expertise when applicable
• Support in Railroad Commission audits on an as needed basis
• Ensure compliance with company policies, standard operating procedures as well as Federal and State regulations
Minimum Qualifications:
• 10+ years experience as a corrosion technician with minimum of NACE CP1 Cathodic Protection Technician certification.
• Must have with natural gas and liquid pipelines corrosion prevention experience
• Knowledge of corrosion behaviors and damage mechanism as well as a fundamental understanding of Cathodic Protection.
• Knowledge and understanding on Indirect Survey techniques (ACVG, DCVG, CIS) and mitigating interference issues
• Ability to follow testing procedures, document findings and communicate technical details.
• Basic computer skills including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
• Solid knowledge of field survey equipment and data recording devices. Must be proficient in Pipeline Compliance Software (PCS), Cathodic Protection Data Manager (CPDM) and Bullhorn Remote Monitoring system or similar products.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

• Support in Texas Railroad Commission or DOT PHMSA audits on an as needed basis
• Ensure compliance with company policies, standard operating procedures as well as Federal and State regulations
