It uses digital measuring electronics, and its illuminated display can be read in a darkened viewing room. Calibration is guided by the instrument software, which keeps the routine short. The hand probe has a soft tip so it does not scratch film and is designed to read correctly even when tilted slightly. Power comes from a rechargeable battery charged over a standard USB charger, with up to about 30 hours of use per charge.
