    Scab like structure on Pressure Vessel shell Material SA516 Gr485(n)

    I wonder what these scab like features represent in a pressure vessel of the above spec.
    The vessel operates at approx 88Deg C with approx 8000ppm oil,water mix.

    The scabs are on most areas but missing from the top part and dish ends of the vessel.
    Could any one of you give me an idea as to what the cause might be.
