Calculation Settings

Interpolation logic: for t = 45 mm, allowable a/t uses the Table 7.10 values directly from the 25 mm ≤ t < 64 mm group. Intermediate a/l values are linearly interpolated. No thickness interpolation is required.

Input guidance: enter flaw start position along weld, actual flaw length l, flaw height a, center depth z from OD, and optional X offset relative to weld centerline. For Table 7.10 evaluation, this calculator uses effective length = max(actual l, 6.4 mm).

Weld Configuration & Geometry

Smart geometry note: for double-sided welds the Bottom Bevel Depth is calculated automatically as Thickness − Top Bevel Depth − Root Face/Land.

Engineering Notes

Acceptance basis: ASME VIII-2 Table 7.10 for 25 mm ≤ t ≤ 300 mm.

Thickness used: 45 mm.

Classification rule: a subsurface indication is treated as a surface flaw when S ≤ a/2.

Interpolation used: linear interpolation for intermediate flaw aspect ratio a/l only. For 45 mm thickness, the 25 mm ≤ t < 64 mm column is used directly.

Smart weld geometry: for double-sided preparations, bottom bevel depth is calculated automatically from top bevel depth and root face / land.
