With your 8 years of experience and existing PCN Level 3 certifications in UT and MT, you're well positioned to expand your portfolio. Here's how the main schemes compare:

PCN (the UK scheme) is strong across Europe and the Middle East, and increasingly recognized in Asia. You already hold it, so maintaining those certifications keeps doors open in those regions.

ASNT SNT-TC-1A (US-based) is the dominant scheme in North America and carries weight globally, especially with US-based companies and those working to ASME codes. It's valued highly in the oil and gas sector worldwide.

ISO 9712 is the international standard and is increasingly the baseline requirement in Asia, the EU and many other regions. It's particularly important if you're looking at work in India, Southeast Asia or China. Since you hold PCN Level 3, you may be able to convert to ISO 9712 with less additional study.

For the Asian market specifically, ISO 9712 would give you the broadest recognition, especially in emerging markets. However, the best choice depends on:

- Which sectors you want to work in (oil and gas, manufacturing, aerospace, power generation)
- Which countries or companies are your target employers
- Whether you plan to add other NDT methods beyond UT and MT
